Kitchen
- Leave the kitchen free from major residue and personal items. Only keep your items on your shelf and in the frigde & freezer.
- Minimize your items in fridge/freezer and prefer organizing in boxes. Do not abandon things.
- Make sure that pots, bowls and other scarce items are available for other people.
- Follow the labels on the dish rack. Pots and pans are stored on stove after cleaning.
- Don’t forget to turn off the stove when you’re done and don’t leave your food on the stove unattended.
- Collect plastic, metal, glass in designated plastic bottles. Organic material in compost buckets.
- Close fridge and freezer doors carefully.
- Coconut husks are disposed by the coconut opening area.
- Remove food residue from the sink.
- Clean the stove as needed.
- Keep your food shelf tidy.
- Purpose of kitchen is food preparation and eating. Avoid using the space for long conversations so that others can use the kitchen in peace.
Waste management
- Use the two outhouses for pooping. If you stay at a separate cabin, you may poop close to it, just make sure to cover well with leaves. You can also poop anywhere out in nature / abandoned areas of the farm, as long as there is a 99% chance noone will walk there.
- Food and poop compost heaps are kept separate (this is important!). Take turns dumping the poop buckets. Ask another resident where to dump it.
- When using the outhouses, use enough sawdust to cover after yourself, but not excessive amounts. Two handfulls should be enough.
- After dumping, wash the bucket with the hose behind the house. Turn on the water fully, cover the hose with a finger in order to spray the water into the bucket, and clean it well.
- If you only need to pee, just pee out in nature at a short distance from communal structures.
- Women may pee inside the bucket while pooping. Men should use a bottle.
Facilities
- Avoid consuming or using water/liquids in the main house due to risk of spilling and leaking through the floor down into other rooms wreaking havoc on electronical equipment.
- Don't leave any of your belongings in communal spaces. Keep them in your room.
- The state of the communal areas are meant to be kept intact, only to be modified by the management. Thus you may only arrange your own assigned room or cabin as you like.
- If you see something that you think should be changed in the community feel free to suggest it.
- Be mindful of water usage. Currently the water system tends to run low at times, especially when there are more people. Avoid doing laundry using water from the tap. Instead use collected rainwater, or use the stream.
- Do not leave behind any trash inside the community. During your stay, store any trash inside your room. Thursday morning it may be placed on the side of the road, for the garbage truck to take. You may also donate smaller pieces of any inorganic waste to the community collection that uses plastic bottles filled with trash for construction.
Respecting the environment
- Keep in mind that the main house may be hosting a number of people. This requires that everybody minimize sound or it will become overwhelming.
- Make sure light is turned off at night when you're the last one using it. And don't keep the light on too late at night.
- Playing sound out loud from phone/computer/speaker is discouraged. Live music is encouraged. Music from speaker can be ok occasionally.
- Burning insence for insect repelling is ok occassionally. Smoking tobacco or weed can be done away from communal areas. Psychadellics should be treated carefully and responsably.
